Arena Coliseo, inaugurated on April 2, 1943, in the Historic Center of Mexico City, is the oldest wrestling arena in Mexico and Latin America. It was built by Salvador Lutteroth, founder of CMLL, and was a pioneer for being the first in the region to have air conditioning.
With a capacity of around 6,000 people, it is known as “The Funnel of La Lagunilla” due to its circular shape. In its early years, it was the stage for iconic matches, such as the historic El Santo vs. Black Shadow fight in 1952, which marked a turning point in Mexican wrestling.
Today, it remains a traditional venue that preserves the folklore and original spirit of this national sport-spectacle.
