Xochimilco, from the Nahuatl language meaning “Place of Flowers,” is one of the most iconic and vibrant neighborhoods in Mexico City, located about an hour from the historic downtown. This colorful area has a history that dates back to the times of the great Tenochtitlán, when it was an important site due to its location on freshwater and the development of chinampas—ancient floating gardens. Today, Xochimilco is a popular tourist destination thanks to its famous trajineras, brightly decorated boats that cruise through the canals, offering an experience that perfectly blends nature with festivity.

After visiting Xochimilco, we will head to Coyoacán just 30 minutes far away. This is a neighborhood with over 500 years of history. Its name comes from the Nahuatl word meaning “Place of Coyotes.” Historically, it has played an important role since the early days of the founding of Tenochtitlan. It was once home to the conqueror Hernán Cortés and the birthplace of his son. In modern times, it became a haven for renowned artists such as Frida Kahlo who lived and created all of her art in this place. Today, it stands as one of the most iconic and culturally rich neighborhoods in Mexico City.

Your guide will contact you before pick up time. The pick up will be at your accommodation address. You can choose the pick up time from 8 am to 5 pm. Our recommendation is 9 or 10 am.

WE NEED TACOS AND DRINKS!

If you don't have dietary restrictions, We do a first stop for buy the tacos. The modest version of this tour includes 4 tacos per person (tacos al pastor is pork meat but It can be of chicken meat). If you are vegan or vetegarian the best option is eat the tacos in Coyoacán where We can go to a Vegetaco small restaurant. Also We do a stop for buying the drinks. You can buy more drinks or all you want. You can request to us to create a real fiesta in the boat including unlimited drinks and tacos.

ON OUR WAY TO XOCHIMILCO

Starting of our tour. Upon arriving in Xochimilco, we begin the tour by exploring the pier area, with the opportunity to purchase a souvenir before boarding the trajinera (traditional boat).

TOUR TIME :

1 HOUR RIDING BOATS

The full visit includes a one-hour ride on a private trajinera (traditional boat), accompanied by music played on our sound system, while enjoying traditional tacos and the beverage of your choice. On the canal, you’ll see many other people enjoying their trajineras (especially on weekends). You’ll also find mariachis available for hire if you’d like to enjoy live music during the ride. Upon returning to the pier, you’ll find souvenir shops where you can purchase mementos of your visit.

Travel time is usually around 30 minutes, but it may vary depending on traffic conditions.

Starting of our tour. We like to start in the center of Coyoacán to explore the history of one of the most iconic places in Mexico City.

TOUR TIME :

2 HOURS OF TOUR

The full visit to Frida Kahlo’s neighborhood includes a tour of the center of Coyoacán, including its main park, the San Juan Bautista Parish, the exterior of Frida Kahlo’s House, the exterior of Hernán Cortés and La Malinche’s House, the coyote's fountain, Frida Kahlo Park, and the Conchita Chapel. During the tour, we’ll visit one of Coyoacán’s traditional ice cream shops, where you’ll get to try a artisinal ice cream or, if you prefer, some churros.

Additionally, the visit to the Frida Kahlo Museum/House can be requested. To include this visit, it is necessary to contact us in advance minimun two weeks before for the reservation, and an extra charge applies.
